Um lugar, um canto, uma canção, um conto.
Inspirado em contos populares de extração nordestina (Brasil) e em poesias sonoras para construir sua movimentação cênica.
Motivos populares são pincelados das transformações de brincantes, esses seres que , do angustioso cotidiano, externalizam uma atmosfera alegre e descontraída. Cavalo marinho e Bumba-meu-boi são exemplares dessa descontração.
Inspirado em cantos e contos populares brasileiros, o espetáculo partiu da pesquisa musical do álbum “Músicas do Brasil”, do livro de fotografia “Maracatu do Baque Solto” de Pedro Ribeiro e Maria Lúcia Montes e do livro “Contos Tradicionais do Brasil” de Câmara Cascudo.
O espetáculo se resume na transformação de um ambiente nostálgico e religioso dos cortadores de cana-de-açúcar da zona-da-mata de Pernambuco, para um ambiente rítmico, dançante e surreal do carnaval de Olinda PE.

From a nostalgic and religious atmosphere to a rhythmic, dancing and surreal one, the transformation of the sugar cane workers from a poor area in the Northeast of Brazil and the plot of precise and deprived movements, the result of a spectacle with intensive physical strength, poetry, humour and plasticity.
Cantinho de Nóis builds a unique universe from the cultural elements brought from the Northeast area of Brazil, such as forró, maracatu, capoeira, caboclinho and popular singings, bringing up a particular gestural identity, as well as a unique look at people, feelings and the complicity of these relationships.

“ The rural world in Pernambuco and the Carnival in Recife are really present in Cantinho de Nóis, created for Centro Cultural São Paulo, to be performed by an independent group of dancers, having Jorge Garcia himself, Henrique Lima and Marisa Bucoff. It is one of my most successful works, where we have found a delicate and precise choreographic structure, the stamina of the popular dances from Pernambuco such as Cavalo-Marinho, and the cohesion of a group with a body language capable of going from regional movements into Jorge Garcia’s personal artistic world”.
